THE EVENT

POCOLA, OK (June 18TH, 2016) – The ninth regular night of weekly racing saw 73 cars show up to challenge the legendary high banks in Pocola, OK. With zero rain falling at the track during the week, track prep was a huge undertaking, but the track officials were able to put together a great racing surface that was smooth, wide and very fast. The track surface was watered several times throughout the night’s action to keep the track in top condition for the drivers and fans in the stands.

The pre-race ceremonies kicked off with the invocation and the presentation the nation’s colors during the National Anthem by four drivers on hand that are part of the Dustin’s Dream Racing Team. Dustin’s Dream is an organization that is dedicated to helping build hospitals and clinics in third world countries. The organization was founded in honor and memory of Dustin Chamberlain who was tragically killed in 2011. Saturday would have been his 25th birthday. You can find out more information about and how you can help Dustin’s Dream by going to their website at www.DustinsDream.net.

First up on the agenda for the race program was heat racing for the Pure Stocks, IMCA Sport Mods, IMCA Stock Cars, IMCA Modifieds, Super Stocks and the USRA Modifieds.

The intermission was next and gave everyone a chance to make a pit stop at the restrooms and get some of the great concession food, including some world famous Menasco BBQ ribs, home-made potato salad and a funnel cake for desert. One lucky 50/50 winner walked off with close to $45 for their winning ticket. The previous A feature winners also received their trophies, had their photos taken and were interviewed by Michelle Walker.

Intermission time also brought everyone the June bicycle races for the kids. There were winners in three age divisions, plus two free bicycles provided by Menasco Racing Enterprises to two lucky kids in the stands just for coming out to the track. Plus, a mystery donation of another bicycle was given away to one lucky kid fan. Photos of the winners will be posted to our Facebook page, with  links on our other social media channels, too.
