Rob Nugent, Track Announcer

POCOLA, OK (September 19TH, 2015) –Mother Nature did not give up her summer to easily with temperatures in the mid 90’s all week and a chance of rain on both Friday night and mid-day on Saturday. But, as a lot of things work out, no rain fell and the temperatures were in the lower 80’s at race time with the racing surface once again in tip top shape.

The night kicked off with the trophy presentations for the previous week’s A feature winners (from September 5TH & 12TH, 2015) with interviews, by Michelle Walker, and photo taking on the pass through in front of the grandstands. This was followed with the invocation and the previous week’s winner’s parade lap presenting the nation’s colors during the National Anthem.

Heat racing action for the 89 cars on hand, including 29 sprint cars from the AmeriFlex Hose Oil Capital Racing Series (OCRS) got underway at 7:35 PM. Two OCRS Sprint Car B feature’s, won by Robert Sellers (4X) and Glen Passmore (69) were also ran before intermission.

The intermission gave everyone a chance to stretch their legs and get some of the concession food, including some of the soon-to-be world famous Menasco smoked bologna and an ice-cold Coca-Cola beverage to wash it all down with. Several race fans and kids were also the lucky recipients of track giveaways, including free T-Shirts and free tickets, during the intermission from Brian White.

The IMCA (Factory) Stock took to the track first for their A Feature after intermission with Shannon Cox (75 – Greenwood, AR) picking up his second win of the season ahead of Jay Anderson (36 – Springdale, AR) and Cecil Hayes (11H – Pocola, OK). Chris Patterson (48 – Muldrow, OK) was also able to lock up the 2015 Track Championship for his class.

The IMCA Sport Mods were up next where Cody Rongey (71 – Booneville, AR) took home the A feature win for the third time in 2015 as Kayden Menasco (49 – Dora, AR) crosses the stope in second ahead of Logan Ellis (118). The 2015 Track Championship for this class will come down to the final points race on September 26TH with a young versus experienced showdown as 14 year old Kayden Menasco (49 – Dora, AR) will enter the night with  a slim 14 point advantage over veteran driver Ken McCarty (1 – Rogers, AR) and a possible 40 points available.

The IIMCA Modifieds rolled out next for their A feature third with Jake Davis (7 – Hackett, AR) winning for the second time in 2015 while Johnny Bone, Jr. (12 – Pea Ridge, AR) finished ahead of H. Palmer (X-15 – Muldrow, OK) in third. Zane Hunter’s (1/2 – Alma, AR) tenth place finish was good enough to lock him to claim the 2015 Track Championship for his class.

Up next were the AmeriFlex Hose & Accessories Oil Capital Racing Series (OCRS) Sprint Cars for their 25 lap A Feature. The race was only slowed by one red flag that involved several sprinters tangling off of Turn 4 and a late race red flag for Sean McClelland (1). McClelland, who was alert and responsive, would be taken from his car with a shoulder injury that required transport to an area hospital for X-rays. The race ended with Zach Chappell (50Z) taking his first OCRS win over Mike Goodman (4AM) and Johnny Kent (55). Complete results for the OCRS cars can be found by going to their website at www.OCRSRacing.com..

The TSS Modified A feature was up last with Andy Milliken (6M – Greenwood, AR) picking up his third feature win of the season over Zane Hunter (7H – Alma, AR) and Randy Henson (10H – Alma, AR). The 2015 Track Championship will come down to the racing on September 26TH as only eight points separate third from first with a possible 40 points available for the win. Will it be points leader, Jamie Hibbs (109 – Choctaw, OK) or Jeremy Vaughn (8V – Pocola, OK) who is just three points behind or maybe Brandon Hunter (1/4 – Alma, AR), in third,  who is only eight points away from the Track Championship?
