The official information for the 36th Annual Spooker has now been released. This year’s event will take place on October 14th, 15th, 16th and 17th, 2015 at the legendary Tri-State Speedway, located in Pocola, OK.
This year’s A Feature payouts are the largest in the event’s 35 year storied history with over $58,000 up for grabs. The 2015 version promises to be one of, if not, the biggest racing events in this part of the country. New track owner, Carey Menasco, has upgraded the facilities this season with numerous enhancements, including new concession stands in the pits as well as on the grandstand side. Over the years, this event has become a destination for drivers and fans alike with many scheduling their vacations for this event and even camping out at the track. When this year’s event is through, will you be able to say that you raced in, or attended, the 36th Annual Spooker at Tri-State Speedway?
Seven classes will do battle on the famous high banks this year. The classes will include Pure Stocks, Factory/IMCA Stocks, Super/Street Stocks/Grand Nationals, Sport Mods (WISSOTA/USRA/IMCA), TSS Modifieds, IMCA Modifieds and Late Models. There will not be any Front Wheel Drive or Mini-Stock classes at this year’s event. There will not be any “area track rules” at this year’s event, as all classes will have to fit into the defined rules, as listed on the flyer.
The Pure Stocks and Super/Street Stocks/Grand Nationals will both follow the published 2015 Tri-State Speedway track rules for Pure Stocks and Super Stocks. The Factory/IMCA Stocks will be able to run either the 2015 Tri-State Speedway Factory Stock rules or the 2015 IMCA Stock Rules. The TSS Modifieds will run the 2015 USRA Modified rules with the Late Models running basically an open class with a few restrictions, as listed on the flyer. The IMCA Modifieds will run the 2015 IMCA Modified rules while the Sport Mods will be a combination class of WISSOTA Midwest Mods/USRA B-Mods/IMCA Sport Mods (both Northern and Southern) that will run will some restrictions as listed on the flyer.
This year’s event schedule will differ slightly from year’s past. Practice will continue to be on Wednesday night (14th) for all classes. Thursday night (15th) will feature heat racing (qualifying) for all classes, except Late Models. Friday night’s (16th) schedule will be feature racing for the Pure Stocks and IMCA Stock Cars with a second round of heat racing (qualifying) for the modified classes, the Super Stocks plus a full race program for the Late Models.
