Drivers of the Week: Dylan and Gean Davlin

Gean Davlin and Dylan are this week’s Tri-State Speedway drivers of the week.

Gean drives the #26 super stock and his son Dylan, one of his fiercest competitors, drives the #26d super stock.  Gean began racing in the super stock class in 2000 and Dylan started in the same class in 2007 at the age of 14. The two really enjoying racing against each other but neither will give an inch of dirt to the other.   Gean has won the Super Stock Points Championship twice and Dylan has won it three times.

Gean is married to wife, Susan and they have two sons. Dylan and Tyler, and one daughter, Rachael.   Their cars sport the sponsor names of Halls Auto Electric, Fountain’s Automotive, Elite Trailers and Severe Trailers.  Randy Lewis is their crew chief and they give a lot of credit to him for their success in racing.

We thank the Davlin family for their continued support of Tri-State Speedway and hope to be seeing a lot of them on victory lane in the coming seasons.

$10,000 September to Remember Information

The details for the $10,000 September to Remember at Tri-State Speedway have now been released. This event will take place over four weeks in September (9th, 15th, 23rd and 30th). Drivers will accumulate special points over the four weeks that will be used to determine champions of the event. Drivers will still earn USRA national points like normal. There will be no track points awarded in September. The special points will only be used for this event. Weekly and championship pay is guaranteed, regardless of car count.

Points will be awarded for the following:

  • Finishing Points – Points will be awarded based on car count in each class each night. Example: 15 cars, winner will receive 15 points.  2nd place will receive 14 points.  3rd place will receive 13 points…etc.
  • Lead Lap Points – Lead the most laps without winning to receive 3 points.
  • Hard Charger Points – Driver that passes the most cars from his starting position, but does not win, will receive 5 points. In the event of more than one car per class passing the same number of cars, the driver with the lowest pill draw will receive the Hard Charger Points.
  • Registration Points – Register by 6 PM, the Friday before each race, to receive 1 point. A no-show registration will receive a penalty deduction of 2 points.  This will help us advertise anticipated car count to fans and drivers. See below on how to register each week.

 Rules, Restrictions and MORE:

  • Winner of the race will not receive Hard Charger or Lead Lap Points.
  • If you receive Lead Lap points you do not qualify for Hard Charger Points.
  • You may receive Registration points by using Instant Messenger on Facebook to the Tri-State Speedway page or by texting the track phone at 918-575-1369. You will need to provide your name and car number when registering.  Please keep in mind, if you fail to show after registering you will be penalized 2 points. For deadline purposes, the time stamp on the Messenger notice or the text message will be used to determine registration time. Only the driver may register himself. Registrations from anyone else will be discarded.
  • We will do a Hard Luck Drawing for drivers that didn’t receive any point money on September 30th. Example: If you had 30 accumulated points but didn’t win any point money, your name will be in the drawing 30 times. We are working on cash and or prizes for these drawings.

THE EVENT

POCOLA, OK (September 9th, 2017) – Round one of the $10,000 September to Remember four-week championship event is now in the book with 65 cars in four classes taking on the famous high banks in Pocola, OK. Mother Nature, after all of the early season rain outs, has apparently decided she likes the racing at Tri-State Speedway as she once again gave us perfect racing weather with a slight southerly breeze and temps in the low 80’s during the day and low 70’s during the event. Once again, the track was in top-notch form, even with a small amount of last-minute watering that took place in Turn 2 that caused a slight delay in getting the racing action underway.

The pre-race ceremonies started at 7:59 PM with the invocation and the playing of the National Anthem.

Heat race lineups for all four classes competing in the September to Remember event were determined by the driver’s draw at sign in each night. The classes advanced to their features via their finish in their heats. Plus, the last heat winner in each class drew a number for the number of rows to invert for the A Feature.

At intermission, everyone had a chance to grab themselves some of the great food items from the concessions including the ever-popular funnel cakes for desert. Everyone also had a chance to get a good deal on close-out track shirts from Kevin with Cuztom Graphics at the T-shirt booth. Race winners from the previous week also were on hand during intermission to get their trophies and photos taken.

TOP THREE

The Factory Stock A Feature was on the track first and saw Andrew Bohanan (51 – Stigler, OK) claim his fifth win of the season.  JR Owen (79 – Pocola, OK) crossed the line in second place over Wesley Bourne (5 – Cameron, OK).

Up next was the USRA B-Mod A Feature. Kevin Guinn (788 – Fayetteville, AR) went to Victory Lane for the fifth time this season as Dean Green (28 – Siloam Springs, AR) took home second place over Daniel Tarkington (Checotah, OK).

The Super Stock A Feature hit the track next. Danny Womack (3 – Bixby, OK, OK) captured his first win of the season at Tri-State Speedway. Dylan Davlin (26D – Shady Point, OK) replicated his second-place finish from the previous week ahead of Brian Parker (210 – Owasso, OK).

The USRA Modifieds took to the high banks last for their A Feature. Johnny Bone, Jr. (12 – Pea Ridge, AR) was able to pick up another win, his third in as many races at Tri-State Speedway. Tate Cole (89 – Fort Gibson, OK) took home second over a fast Kyle Ledford (75 – Greenwood, AR).

All race results, including heats are available by clicking on the Results menu. The current top three drivers in each class are also posted there, as well as full season point standings for each class are available by clicking on the Points menu.

Just a reminder that none of the $10,000 September to Remember events count toward, or will affect, their season track points. The last points race for the classes will be the 47th Annual Points Championship races on October 7th, 2017.

THE EVENT

POCOLA, OK (September 1st and 2nd, 2017) – The fourteenth points race of the season and the 2017 Bravado Wireless Fall Classic USRA Modified Special at Tri-State Speedway saw seven different winners in four classes over the two competition nights. Mother Nature continued to cooperate as temperatures were in the mid-80’s with a slight breeze on Friday night. The new track owners, Michael and Jerri Hoover, continued to impress the drivers and fans alike with their dedication and support to make Tri-State Speedway mighty once again.

The pre-race ceremonies each night started with the invocation and the playing of the National Anthem. Several cars also carried the American flag during the parade laps on Friday night.
