POCOLA, OK (June 20th, 2015) – For only the second week this season, Mother Nature decided not to rain during the last week, close to or on Saturday. The temperature was forecasted to be close to the mid-90’s at race time. The weather gurus got the no rain part right, but missed on the temp as it was only in the mid-80’s at race time with a nice gentle breeze blowing in from the south. Once again, the track surface continued to improve from the previous week thanks to the hard work and dedication from the track employees.

The first order of business, as always, was to honor the last races (June 13th) A Feature winners with their trophies, interviews and photo taking on the pass through in front of the grandstands after the pre-race ceremonies of the invocation and the national anthem.

Heat racing action in all five classes took the crowd of enthusiastic race fans in attendance to intermission at 8:20 PM. The intermission break gave everyone a chance to stretch their legs and get some of the awesome concession stand food along with the soon to be world famous Menasco BBQ. The intermission also provided an opportunity for a little sprinkling on the track surface to make the main features the best they could be.

The first A Feature action was for the Pure Stocks with Chris Perkins (88 – Rudy, AR), last week’s runner up grabbing his first win of the season ahead of former track champion David Church (89 – Mountainburg, AR) and Gary Clark (22 – Hackett, AR).

In the Super Stock A Feature Jim Philpot (25 – Greenwood, AR) let the outside line take him to the checkered flag first as Grant Davis (1 - Tahlequah, OK) finished in second and Shawn Sweeten (5 – Pocola, OK) finished in third.

The IMCA Modified A Feature saw the ageless Van Gemmill (21 – Ponca City, OK) return to his winning ways with his second feature win as Shawn Walsh (Ash Flat, AR) finished in second, while Travis Johnson (86J – Enid, OK) crossed the finish line in third.

The Factory/I Stock A Feature was up next with Kyle Woody (77 – Crowder, OK) picking up his first A Feature win of the year ahead of former winner, Jay Anderson (36 – Springdale, AR), in second with Justin Johnson (55 – Fort Smith, AR) in third.

The IMCA Sport Mods A Feature saw Ken McCarty (1 – Rogers, AR) pick up his second A Feature win of the season ahead of Logan Ellis (118) and Gerry Vaughn (77 – Greenwood, AR) in third for the second week in a row.
