THE EVENT

POCOLA, OK (July 9TH, 2016) – Night number twelve of weekly racing saw 73 cars show up for point action excitement on the famous high banks in Pocola, OK for all six classes. Another week went by without any rain until Friday night, overnight and Saturday AM. The amount of rain that fell caused some extra track prep measures. By race time the track had some rough places, but with the very wide racing surface at Tri-State, there were several grooves for the racers to choose that did not have any bumps.

The pre-race ceremonies kicked off with the invocation and four race cars presenting the nation’s colors during the National Anthem.

First up on the agenda for the race program was heat racing for the Pure Stocks, the IMCA Stock Cars, the Super Stocks, the IMCA Sport Mods, the IMCA Modifieds and the USRA Modifieds.

The intermission was next and gave everyone a chance to make a pit stop at the restrooms and get some of the great concession food, including some of the great ice cold Coca-Cola products and the new walking tacos. One lucky 50/50 winner walked off with over $140 for their winning ticket. The previous A feature winners also received their trophies, had their photos taken and were interviewed by Michelle Walker.

TOP THREE

The first feature on the track after intermission was the Super Stock B Feature which also included the IMCA Stock Car A Feature, with the top 8 cars from the Super Stocks advancing to the back of the A Feature. In the IMCA Stock Car A Feature, Andrew Bohanan (51 – Stigler, OK) crossed the line first for his first win of the year as Gregory Gutt (620 – Burns Flat, OK) and Mike Wiseman (1 – Muskogee, OK) finished in second and third.

The next feature on the track was for the Pure Stocks. After the top two finishers were disqualified for not pulling the required vacuum, Jacob Cox (99 – Pocola, OK) made it to victory lane for the first time this season as Rick Edgerton (27 – Fort Smith. AR) finished second and Cody Collingsworth (10 – Rudy, AR) wound up third.

The IMCA Sport Mods took to the track for their A Feature next. Dustin Boston (36 - Hulbert, OK) out ran the field for his first win of the 2016 season at Tri-State. Logan Ellis (118 – Wagoner, OK) finished second foe the second week in a row as last week’s winner, Dustin Leatherman (94 – Muskogee, OK), followed for a third place finish.

Up next was the IMCA Modified A Feature where Tate Cole (89 – Muskogee, OK) claimed his eighth win of the season over Kevin Guinn (88 – Fayetteville, AR) in second and 15 year old Kayden Menasco (49K – Dora, OK) in third.

The next A Feature action was for the Super Stocks. After taking a week off, Neil Johnson (17 – Fort Smith, AR) returned to the track with a win over Cody Jones (92 – Fort Smith, AR). Gene Davlin (26 – Shady Point, OK) finished not far behind the top two in third.
