$5 Off Grandstand Admission To Help End Summer Hunger For Children

On May 21st, Tri-State Speedway will be teaming up with the River Valley Regional Food Bank in their Help End Summer Hunger for Children food drive. We are asking fans to donate one of the following to receive half off your grandstand admission. 

• Jar of peanut butter
• Box of cereal
• 3 Boxes of Macaroni & Cheese
• 2 Cans of Tuna

These are specific items they are looking for to help them in this great program. All non-perishable food iterms are welcome, but the items above will get you in to the grandstands for a full night of point racing excitement in all six classes for only $5.

There will also be bicycle races for the kids with trophies for the winners and two free bicycle giveaways compliments of Menasco Racing Enterprises. Plus, each adult that brings a child and bicycle gets in FREE!

Overall 4 Counties:          17.5%                    49,110 out of 280,394 persons

Oklahoma’s overall food insecurity rate is 16.8% . That affects 652,090 people who have a missing meal gap of 115,121,300 meals.

Arkansas’ overall food insecurity rate is 19.1%. That affects 567,250 people who have a missing meal gap of 100,143,500 meals.

How many people use food pantries and places offering food assistance meals in this area?  10,000 each week.  About 83,000 people a year.

How many visits do food pantries and food assistance meal providers receive from people needing food?  10,900 week.  About 566,000 visits a year

The food bank distributes over 7 million pounds of food a year.  Over 1.7 million pounds are fresh fruits and veggies; another 1.5 million are meats and fish.

Over 85% of those we help have incomes below $20,000 Two out of three adult clients actually graduated high school, have a post graduate degree or a GED

88% of people we help that don’t work are not working because they are retired, disabled, in poor health or act as a caretaker for another.

The food distributed by the food bank has an estimated wholesale value of $12 million.

In the Arkansas River Valley,

In Sequoyah County, 1,370,000 meals are missing from the diets of county residents
In LeFlore County; 1,580,000  meals are missing from the diets of county residents
Together, the budget shortfall for this “Meal Gap” is estimated at $8,381,000

In Sebastian County, 3,967,000 meals are missing from the diets of county residents.
In Crawford County; 1,753,000.meals are missing from the diets of county residents.
Together, the budget shortfall for this “Meal Gap” is estimated at $15,425,000
