34th Annual Kegger "A" Feature line-ups
*****************************

We apologize for the delay in getting these posted. There was a hiccup in the new passing point system, which required us to verify each position and result by hand.

We do anticipate the car counts increasing for Day #2, due to the threat of rain (last night) and conflicts from other previously scheduled events because of our rain postponement last weekend.

Any new cars will be lined up, as the sign in, behind the following cars. The pit gates will open at 4 PM. If any "B" Features are required, they will be lined up the same way.

The following cars are qualified for the 34th Annual Kegger "A" Features and will line up in these starting positions:

The pit gates will open at 4 PM. Grandstands will open at 5 PM. Racing will start at 7 PM.

Cars/drivers whose passing points, from their heats, placed them outside the top 12, may have to run a qualifying race, depending on the number of new add-ins, in order to fill out the 22 car starting line up.

The following cars are qualified, or locked in, for the 34th Annual Kegger "A" Features and will line up in these starting positions.

This Saturday, April 28th, 2012, we will remember our fallen racer and friend, Danny Martinez, Jr. with the 5th Annual Memorial Races and Law Enforcement, EMT, and Firefighter Night, presented by A-Z Wholesale Warehouses. All law enforcement, emergency responders, and fire fighters will get in FREE with their ID's.

Officer Daniel Martinez was shot and killed while helping a mother retrieve her child from a residence.

Officer Martinez had responded to a call to help a mother get her child from a residence where she had a run in with her ex-boyfriend earlier in the day. The ex-boyfriend had been arrested and she had returned to pick up her child. She met the officer in the parking lot and they went to the front door and the brother of the man arrested earlier answered and told them to wait a minute, then shut the door. He returned with a 9 mm handgun and shot the police officer in the head, then shot the mother in the back, shoulder, and elbow as she fled. Officer Martinez was taken to Sparks Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

The shooter fled from the home in a car and killed himself before Oklahoma Highway Patrol officers found him near Spiro, Oklahoma.

Officer Martinez had served for several years with the Poteau Police Department, Panama Police Department, Shady Point Police Department, and Wister Police Department, all of which are in Oklahoma. He joined the Fort Smith Police Department on July 3, 2006. He is survived by his wife and five children.

Danny, along with several of his family members, have raced at Tri-State Speedway in the previous years.

Cecil Harlan first became interested in racing in the 60's. While working for Donrey Media, he volunteered with the Fort Smith Racing Association.  He began working at Tri-State at the pit gate for Gaylon Stokes and Foy Brown and soon afterward was promoting for them. As his love of racing grew over the years, he began operating the race track in 1980.

During his time, both as promoter and owner until 2001, Cecil worked to bring fine stock car racing to the area and to put Tri-State Speedway on the map.  Well known NASCAR names such as Rusty Wallace and Mark Martin, along with the late legendary Larry Phillips, were both track champions and regular weekly racers at Tri-State. Thus the origin of "The Legendary Tri-State Speedway ...  Where Future Stars Are Born."

In 1999, Cecil was awarded the Lanny Edwards Award, presented by Texas Motor Speedway, that honors individuals who demonstrate perseverance and improvement in short-track racing for competitors and fans and was presented by then Texas Governor, George W. Bush. Most recently he was presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Ozark Vintage Racing Association (OVRA) for 30 years of dedication to stock car racing in Arkansas, Oklahoma, Kansas and Missouri.

Cecil passed away on November 23, 2011 after a battle with Lou Gehrig's Disease. He will be remembered not only at Tri-State Speedway, but all over the region, for many years to come, by fans and drivers alike.

Come help us celebrate his life, and time as the promoter and owner of Tri-State Speedway, this Saturday night, as A-Z Wholesale Warehouses presents the 1st Annual Cecil Harlan Memorial Races.

Just announced on Wednesday, added money in ALL classes by Shamrock Bolt & Screw and Budweiser. $700 to win USRA Modifieds, $425 to win Super Stocks and Economy Modifieds, $325 to win Factory Stocks, and $200 to win Mini-Stocks and Front Wheel Drives. Second place finishers will have added money, too!
