POCOLA, OK (July 16th, 17th & 18th, 2015) –Once again the weather people were spot on with the forecast for the 17th Annual Super Stock Showdown presented by Shamrock Bolt & Screw Company. Temperatures were in the mid to high 90’s for all three days and zero rain, which is a lot better than what the track faced earlier in the season. Even with the heat of summer, the fans and drivers, all 85 of them, came out for a great three day event.

The event kicked off with open practice for any class and free grandstand admission on Thursday night and continued on Friday night with qualifying races and features for the Super Stocks with a full point show for the Pure Stocks and Factory/IMCA Stocks. Everything wrapped up on Saturday night with last chance qualifying features, a full point show for the IMCA Sport Mods, IMCA Modifieds and the TSS Modifieds, plus the big 40 lap, %5,000 to win Super Stock A Feature.

The first order of business, on Saturday night, was to honor the last races (July 11th) A Feature winners with their trophies, interviews and photo taking on the pass through in front of the grandstands after the pre-race ceremonies of the invocation and the national anthem.

With the added heat and sunshine of mid-summer, the start time change to 8 PM was beneficial as the sun was on its way down at that point which helped keep the moisture in the track longer and helped the fans get a little cooler quicker. Heat racing action got underway on Friday night at 8:20 PM and on Saturday night at 8:15 PM. Both nights, intermission was underway around 9:30 PM giving everyone a chance to stretch their legs and get some of the awesome concession stand food and eat some of the world famous Menasco BBQ.

The Factory/I Stock A Feature hit the track  first on Friday night with Dale Richardson (327 – Muskogee, OK) claiming his second win of the season ahead of Jay Anderson (36 – Springdale, AR  and Ron Grover (27 – Pocola, OK) in third.

The Pure Stock A Feature was up next on Friday night and saw Lee Carver (42 – Lockesburg, AR) on top as Wesley Bourne (5 – Cameron, OK) crossed in second with Chris Perkins (88 - Rudy, AR) cracking the top three.

Up next on Friday night were two qualifying features for the Super Stocks. The first feature saw Kyle Slader (19S – Muskogee, OK) take the win as H Palmer (X-15 – Muldrow, OK) captured the win in the second qualifying feature.

Saturday night’s feature action started with two last change B Features for the Super Stocks. Tony Anglin (G1 – Walnut Ridge, AR) captured the first and Kent Bright (74 – Sand Springs, OK) took home the win in the second last chance B Feature.

In Saturday’s IMCA Sport Mod A Feature, Ken McCarty (1 – Rogers, AR) took home his fourth A Feature win of the season ahead of Logan Ellis (118) and Dalton Ragsdale (19S – Muskogee, OK) in second and third, respectively.

The IMCA Modified A Feature hit the track next and saw Tae Cole (89 - Muskogee, OK) go back to back for his sixth win of the season as Van Gemmill (21 –Ponca City, OK) finished in second and Zane Hunter (1/2 – Alma, AR) finished in third.

The TSS Modified A feature was up next with Jeremy Vaughn (8V – Pocola, OK) picking up his first win of the season as Jamie Hibbs (109 – Choctaw, OK) and Dalton McKenzie (8 – Van Buren, AR) in second and third respectively.

In the big $17,000 plus purse, 40 lap 17th Annual Super Stock Showdown, presented by Shamrock Bolt & Screw Company, A Feature, Burl Woods (135 – Republic, MO) withstood some late race chargers and took the win from a strong Tony Anglin (G1 – Walnut Ridge, AR) in a side-by-side run to the checkered flag as Scooter Scruggs (43 – Hensley, AR) finished close behind in third.

POCOLA, OK (July 11th, 2015) –The weather “gurus” got it right this weekend. This can be a good or bad thing depending on your outlook of things. They were correct in that there would be no rain on Saturday and that the temperatures were going to be in the mid 90’s. The bad part of their forecast was that the temps were in the mid 90’s.

The first order of business was to honor the last races (July 4th) A Feature winners with their trophies, interviews and photo taking on the pass through in front of the grandstands after the pre-race ceremonies of the invocation and the national anthem.

Heat racing action in all six classes got started a little late due to some extra track preparation and took the race fans to intermission at 9:10 PM. The intermission break gave everyone a chance to stretch their legs and get some of the awesome concession stand food along with the world famous Menasco BBQ.

The last few weekend’s start times have been pushed back a little due to the effects of the summer sunshine on the new clay at Tri-State Speedway. Going forward, or until further notice, we will be scheduling the pre-race ceremonies for 7:15 PM with the green flag to drop on heat racing action at 7:30 PM. Gate open times will remain the same with pit gates opening at 4 PM and grandstands at 5 PM.

In the IMCA Sport Mod A Feature, Cody Rongey (71 – Booneville, AR) also took home his first A Feature win of the season ahead of previous feature winners, Aaron Scroggins (1/4 – Neosho, MO) and Ken McCarty (1 – Rogers, AR) in second and third, respectively.

The IMCA Modified A Feature hit the track next and saw Tae Cole (89 - Muskogee, OK) return to take home his fifth trophy of the season as Anthony Reeves (1ST – Mulberry, AR) finished in second and Kent Bright (3B – Sand Springs, OK) finished in third.

The Pure Stock A Feature saw Wesley Bourne (5 – Cameron, OK) on top as Chris Perkins (88 – Rudy, AR) crossed in second with Austin Farnam (38J – Fort Smith, AR) cracking the top three.

The TSS Modified A feature was up next with Andy Milliken (6M – Greenwood, AR) collecting his first win of the season ahead of the tough competition of Brent Holman (17 – Rogers, AR) and Jeremy Vaughn (8V – Pocola, OK) in second and third respectively.

In the Super Stock A Feature, in what he hopes is a preview of the upcoming $5,000 to win 17th Annual Super Stock Showdown, presented by Shamrock Bolt & Screw Company, Kyle Slader (19S – Muskogee, OK) took the win from a strong Dylan Davlin (26D – Shady Point, OK) in a side-by-side run to the checkered flag as Scooter Scruggs (43 – Hensley, AR) finished in a close third.

POCOLA, OK (July 4, 2015) –Mother Nature once again played the “Guess What I’M Going To Do” game with predicted rain and temperatures in the low 80s. Instead, she gave us no rain on race day and temperatures in the mid-90s and what felt like about 100% humidity. Despite the weather forecasts, 77 cars showed up along with a packed grandstand for the 44th Annual Firecracker Spectacular and 3rd Annual Curtis Tennant Memorial presented by Shamrock Bolt & Screw Company.

The first order of business, as always, was to honor the last races (June 27th) A Feature winners with their trophies, interviews and photo taking on the pass through in front of the grandstands after the pre-race ceremonies of the invocation and the national anthem. Also, a memorial parade lap was held with cars circling the famous high banks three wide while flying a flag of their choice and following the lead car driven by Jeff Tennant, brother of the late Curtis Tennant.

Up next was the giant 20 plus minute fireworks salute to America set to patriotic music. As in years past, the show did not disappoint and had the crowd on hand wowing and cheering enthusiastically after the finale and show was complete.

In the IMCA Sport Mod A Feature, Steve Little (97S – Ada, OK)  took home his first A Feature win of the season ahead of Alan Goforth (379 – Pocola, OK) and Kaden Weaver (23 - Muskogee, OK).

The IMCA Modified A Feature hit the track next and saw Van Gemmill (21 – Ponca City, OK) take home his third trophy of the season with a strong last lap move relegating Kent Bright (3B – Sand Springs, OK) to a second place finish ahead of Anthony Reeves (1ST - Mulberry, AR) who finished in third for the second straight week.

The Pure Stock A Feature saw Wesley Bourne (5 – Cameron, OK) on top ahead of Junior Grim (16 - Pocola, OK) and Nathan Reed (V1 – Alma, AR).

The TSS Modified A feature was up next with Jamie Hibbs (109 - Choctaw, OK) showing that last weekend was not a fluke as he doubled down for the win ahead of Freddy Hogrefe (57H) and Daniel Tarkington (2 – Checotah, OK) both of whom were in brand new cars.

POCOLA, OK (June 27th, 2015) – We must thank Mother Nature for this weekend's weather. We give her a hard time on the week's that the weather is bad for racing, but she was nice to us this weekend. With temperatures in the low 80's on the last weekend of June, and the first weekend of summer, we will accept those conditions all summer, if we can get them.

The first order of business, as always, was to honor the last races (June 20th) A Feature winners with their trophies, interviews and photo taking on the pass through in front of the grandstands after the pre-race ceremonies of the invocation and the national anthem.

Heat racing action in all five classes took the nice crowd of  race fans in attendance to intermission at 9:30 PM. The intermission break gave everyone a chance to stretch their legs and get some of the awesome concession stand food along with the soon to be world famous Menasco BBQ.

Intermission this past weekend also held the latest session of bicycle races for the kids with the oldest two groups opting to race around the entire length of the Tri-State Speedway 3/8th's mile oval. Plus, as in the previous two bicycle race nights, Menasco Racing Enterprises presented one lucky boy and girl a free bicycle, just for attending the races! The intermission also saw some continued track prep to make the main features the best they could be.

The Factory/I Stock A Feature hit the track first with Dalton Ragsdale (22 - Muskogee, OK) claiming his second win of the season ahead of last weekend's winner, Kyle Woody (77 – Crowder, OK). Jay Anderson (36 – Springdale, AR), finished in third for the second week in a row.

In the IMCA Sport Mod A Feature, Ken McCarty (1 – Rogers, AR) made it back to back A Feature wins for his third feature win of the season ahead of Neil Johnston (17J - Fort Smith, AR) and Rodney Cantrell (21C - Muskogee, OK).

The IMCA Modified A Feature hit the track next and saw Jason Payton (6 - Greenwood, AR) take home his first trophy of the season as Zane Hunter (1/2 - Alma, AR) and Anthony Reeves (1ST - Mulberry, AR) finished in second and third.

The Pure Stock A Feature saw Chris Perkins (88 – Rudy, AR) doubling down for his second win of the season ahead of Bobby Ward (33 - Tahlequah, OK) and Gary Prewett (76 - Muldrow, OK).

This weekend saw the addition of the TSS Modified class, which is a USRA-style class. This first week's action saw Jamie Hibbs (109 - Choctaw, OK) pick up the win ahead of Ryan Taylor (1T - Muldrow, OK) and Dalton McKenzie (8 - Van Buren, AR).

In the Super Stock A Feature, the win was not decided until  the last lap, where Neil Johnston (17 - Fort Smith, AR) and Josh Essary (4E - Bella Vista, AR) traded the lead four times in the last four laps,. The win puts Johnston's feature wins at five.  Last weekend's second place finisher, Grant Davis (1 - Tahlequah, OK) finished in third.

Complete race results, including heats, are available by clicking on the reults link. Current point standings are available buy clicking ont he points link, as well.

Racing is scheduled to continue on July 4th with the 44th Annual Firecracker Spectacular and 3rd Annual Curtis Tennant Memorial, presented by Shamrock Bolt & Screw. Pit gates will open at 4 PM with the grandstands opening at 5 PM. Pre-race ceremonies will begin at 6:45 PM with the green flag set to drop on the racing action at 7 PM. POCOLA, OK (June 20th, 2015) – For only the second week this season, Mother Nature decided not to rain during the last week, close to or on Saturday. The temperature was forecasted to be close to the mid-90’s at race time. The weather gurus got the no rain part right, but missed on the temp as it was only in the mid-80’s at race time with a nice gentle breeze blowing in from the south. Once again, the track surface continued to improve from the previous week thanks to the hard work and dedication from the track employees.

The first order of business, as always, was to honor the last races (June 13th) A Feature winners with their trophies, interviews and photo taking on the pass through in front of the grandstands after the pre-race ceremonies of the invocation and the national anthem.

Heat racing action in all five classes took the crowd of enthusiastic race fans in attendance to intermission at 8:20 PM. The intermission break gave everyone a chance to stretch their legs and get some of the awesome concession stand food along with the soon to be world famous Menasco BBQ. The intermission also provided an opportunity for a little sprinkling on the track surface to make the main features the best they could be.

The first A Feature action was for the Pure Stocks with Chris Perkins (88 – Rudy, AR), last week’s runner up grabbing his first win of the season ahead of former track champion David Church (89 – Mountainburg, AR) and Gary Clark (22 – Hackett, AR).

In the Super Stock A Feature Jim Philpot (25 – Greenwood, AR) let the outside line take him to the checkered flag first as Grant Davis (1 - Tahlequah, OK) finished in second and Shawn Sweeten (5 – Pocola, OK) finished in third.

The IMCA Modified A Feature saw the ageless Van Gemmill (21 – Ponca City, OK) return to his winning ways with his second feature win as Shawn Walsh (Ash Flat, AR) finished in second, while Travis Johnson (86J – Enid, OK) crossed the finish line in third.

The Factory/I Stock A Feature was up next with Kyle Woody (77 – Crowder, OK) picking up his first A Feature win of the year ahead of former winner, Jay Anderson (36 – Springdale, AR), in second with Justin Johnson (55 – Fort Smith, AR) in third.

The IMCA Sport Mods A Feature saw Ken McCarty (1 – Rogers, AR) pick up his second A Feature win of the season ahead of Logan Ellis (118) and Gerry Vaughn (77 – Greenwood, AR) in third for the second week in a row.
